“But as I stood there in silence – not even speaking of good things – the turmoil within me grew worse. The more I thought about it, the hotter I got, igniting a fire of words.”

– Psalm 39:2-3 NLT

Our desire to unleash in an outburst of anger usually breeds an unfavorable response. Yet our mental health knows doing nothing about our thoughts or feelings is just as harmful. Is there any middle ground?

Recognizing our need for expression is an excellent starting point. But we must be measured in our response to others. Appearing out of control often elicits fear and stress.

So as we care for our own mental well-being, as well as that of others, pray to God that we be thoughtful, reserved, and kind, even when we want to lash out at the world.
