DEVOTED TO GOD, USING MY GIFTS FOR HIS GLORY!

It’s All Good!

Elizabeth, April 19, 2025April 20, 2025

“Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good.”

–Genesis 1:31

In Genesis, we see God creating. First light, then the earth and sky, the seasons, the animals, and to finish the job, humanity itself.

According to Moses, for every day of creation, God ended the day with Him observing the work of His hands, and declared all of it to be good.

Today, a day which we traditionally call Good Friday, is celebrated as the day Jesus died on the cross to atone for the sins of the world. To those who saw him suffer, it was not a good day. To his own family and mother, who witnessed these events as well, you may wonder whether they saw any good in any of this. Watching your son and brother die on a crucifix is probably not what they would call a good day.

Yet God, in his wisdom, caused this chain of events to happen (Isaiah 53:10), and was well aware of what was about to occur. He knew in advance his reason for dying was so that we could have eternal life with Him, and not have our sin weighing down on us. He bore that for all of humanity — and beyond! — so that all things could be reconciled to Him (Colossians 1:20). God is doted on in Scripture as having so great a love for all he has made, and this is evident in Christ going to the cross two thousand years ago.

So, this is a good day, this Good Friday. The death of Jesus brought us closer to God the Father, which is always a good thing. And we will see again in a couple days, that death is not the end of all things, but in fact is a new beginning.

And this is very good.
