“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”
—Philippians 4:6
It’s easy to be distracted, angered, stressed out by or anxious about the things going on in our lives and in the news that we are exposed to day in and day out. God is aware we find this concerning, especially believers, since we desire a higher standard from the world and ourselves, though we may not receive from it what we want. That is life, I suppose.
But instead of fretting about the state of the world, though devastating and broken as it is, take your cares and concerns to God. He knows our hearts and He wishes everyone would come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Until the day that every knee bows and we all confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11), submit your worries and anxieties about everything to Him, because He cares about us and our peace of mind (1 Peter 5:7).
In our prayers, talk to Him about the areas of our lives in which we need Him (or ask Him where we need him the most, if you are unsure). Above all, in our prayers, praise Him, and tell Him how grateful we are to be living and active, even in these troublesome times. And ask Him to show us how we can be a light to those around us, no matter how dark and dim our world becomes.
