“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

–Proverbs 31:25 NLT

There are many days that go by where I just don’t think I will make it. The enemy is dragging me down with him, and I lose my will, my strength, my motivation to carry on. Sometimes I will just sit in silence and plead with God for all of it to just end, and even to take me out of my misery….

Yet, almost despite the suffering, this Proverbs verse lies in a frame on my bedroom wall, reminding me daily of what God has given me and what He promises to provide for me, at all times: to cover me in strength, so I am never weak and vulnerable to the enemy; to lavish me with the confidence I need when others mistreat me; to shower me with a sense of humor about my future, and place in my heart a desire to be unafraid about what lies ahead for me. It sounds like a dream come true.

For us, it is — God and His promises are our dream come true. Though this life can seem like a nightmare to us, He invites us to come to Him whenever we want. And when we do, He promises to clothe us in strength, dignity and His perfect love, which casts out all fear (1 John 4:18 ESV).

Pray that we remain awake, aware of the enemy’s tactics. Pray that we learn to resist the temptation to fall into his hands, due to our own weaknesses. And pray also that one day, like the Proverbs woman, we too would be able to laugh at anything that comes our way…with no fear in our hearts whatsoever.
